Driving the Sea to Sky Highway

Highway 99 runs the 120 km from Vancouver to Whistler along Howe Sound and up into the Coast Mountains, and it's one of the most spectacular drives on the continent, about two hours without stopping. Most people break the trip at Porteau Cove, the Britannia Mine Museum, Shannon Falls, the Stawamus Chief or Brandywine Falls. From 1 October to 30 April, winter tyres or chains are a legal requirement on this road, not just good advice.
