Canada Entry & Visa Checker for Whistler
Canada is not a member of the European Union and sits entirely outside the Schengen Area, so European rules on stay length and border checks simply do not apply here. Most visa-exempt travellers instead need an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) before flying, and permitted stay length is set by Canadian immigration rules, not a Schengen allowance. Select your passport below to see your current status.
What every traveller needs to know
- A valid passport is required for entry โ a national ID card is never accepted, even for a short stay, so check it will remain valid for your trip.
- Visa-exempt air travellers need an eTA, applied for online in a few minutes for about 7 CAD, and it is tied to the passport used for the application.
- No vaccinations are required to enter Canada.
- Visa-exempt visitors can drive in Canada on their national driving licence for the length of their stay; an International Driving Permit is recommended alongside an older paper licence.
- Winter tyres or chains are legally required on Highway 99, the Sea to Sky Highway, from 1 October to 30 April โ this is enforced by police, not just advice for renters.
